Winemaking

Vintage 2022 was a cooler than average vintage, with idyllic rainfall across the growing season, leading to exceptional quality across the board. Harvested in mid-March, our Cabernet parcels were de-stemmed, crushed and pumped to stainless vats for inoculation with a pure yeast culture. Fermentation was undertaken at 24-26°C,with frequent pump overs to maximise colour and tannin extraction. The wine was pressed at near dryness and seeded for Malolactic fermentation, ahead of centrifugation onto premium French oak for maturation for four months. Once the wine and oak had melded, the parcel was prepared for bottling and conditioned prior to release.

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

90 Points

"This is immediately appealing on the nose with blackcurrant, clove, nutmeg and thyme aromas, leading to a fruit-expressive palate displaying supple mouthfeel backed by fine-grained tannins, making it sturdy and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2028."

Brett - Aussie Wine Tasting

"I like these Metal Label wines. They are cheap as chips and very enjoyable wines. This Cabernet is ready to drink now. Pretty rich and generous for a Cabernet and is your perfect mid week and BBQ style wine. For value for money and drinkability these wines are good gear."
